What is PBS?

PBS -  school-wide systems of support that include pro-active strategies for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviours to create a positive school environment  This is known as PBS – Positive Behaviour for Success.  Positive behaviour support is an application of a behaviourally-based behaviour systems approach to enhance the capacity of the school community to improve the environments in which teaching and learning occurs.  The purpose of school-wide PBS at IllawarraSportsHigh School is to establish a climate in which appropriate behaviour is the norm.

 

Illawarra Sports High School

is a designated specialist sports high school with a broadly based comprehensive curriculum from Years 7 - 12. The school draws the majority of its students from the Southern Wollongong area but with an increasing number of students from the larger Illawarra area who access its specialists sports programs.

Illawarra Sports High School aims to:

Give a central focus to learning;
Promote a school climate which fosters striving for excellence;
Have high expectations of students;

and

Encourage students to attain their personal best in academic, sporting and cultural pursuits.

What is TSDP?

Illawarra Sports High School is one of seven sports high schools in New South Wales. Our aim to provide students with the opportunity to excel both academically and in their sporting endeavours. Our Talented Sports Development Program (TSDP) caters for students who have been identified as having a high degree of skill in their chosen sport. We aim to assist students to develop a balance between sporting commitments and academic studies. The school provides a curriculum that allows students to undertake specialised development programs in their chosen TSDP sport without impacting on their academic studies.
